Dental Insurance in Safety Harbor

Before we suggest a dental plan, we look at what you have now, which dentist you want to keep and what work you expect this year. Then we tell you plainly what each plan will and will not pay for.

What dental insurance does and where it falls short

Most dental plans pay well for cleanings and checkups, pay part of the bill for fillings and pay less for crowns, root canals and bridges. Each plan also caps what it pays in a year. That cap matters more than most people think.

A cheap premium can hide a long waiting period on major work, or a network that leaves out your dentist. So we start by checking those details. You get our findings first, in plain words, and a recommendation only after that.

We meet clients at our office, or by phone and video. Many people pair dental with Vision Insurance or add it to Family Health Insurance, and we can look at those together.

What we check for you

Your dentist and the network
We confirm whether your dentist is in network for each plan. If they are not, we show you what out-of-network visits would pay back.
Waiting periods
Many plans make you wait months before they pay for fillings, and longer for crowns or root canals. We list the waiting period for each type of work so nothing catches you off guard.
Yearly maximum and deductible
We look at how much a plan pays in a year and what you pay before it starts. If you have big work coming, a low yearly cap can run out fast.
Missing tooth and frequency rules
Some plans will not pay to replace a tooth lost before your coverage began. Others limit how often you can get cleanings or X-rays. We point these out up front.
Side-by-side options
You get plan options from multiple carriers laid out next to each other. Premium, deductible, waiting periods and network all on one page.
Kids and orthodontics
If braces are likely, we check which plans cover them, the age limits and the lifetime cap. Not every plan includes it.

Signs it is time to look at your dental coverage

  • You lost coverage through work

A job change or a move to self-employment usually ends your dental benefits. We can help you replace them without a long gap.

  • Your dentist told you about upcoming work

If you know a crown or root canal is coming, the waiting period on a new plan matters a lot. We check that before you sign up.

  • Your plan keeps paying less than you expected

Surprise bills often come from a low yearly cap or an out-of-network dentist. A review shows you where the gap is.

  • Your kids may need braces

Orthodontic coverage varies a great deal between plans. Better to sort it out before the first consult.

  • You only use cleanings and pay a high premium

Some people pay for coverage they rarely use. We will say so if a simpler plan fits you better.

How a dental plan review works

  1. 1

Call and tell us what you have

Give us a call and tell us about your current plan, if any, your dentist and the work you expect. It takes a few minutes.

  2. 2

    We check the details

We look up networks, waiting periods, yearly caps and any missing tooth or frequency rules for the plans that fit. This is the careful part, and we do not skip it.

  3. 3

    You get plain findings

We go over what we found at our office, or by phone or video. You see the plans side by side and hear which one we would pick and why.

  4. 4

    Enrollment if you want it

If a plan makes sense, we help you enroll and tell you when coverage starts. If nothing beats what you have, we tell you that too.

What moves the price of a dental plan

Talking with us is free. Our pay comes from the insurance carrier whose plan you pick, so having us look over your options costs you nothing. The price of the plan itself comes down to a few things, and we go through each one with you.

Plan type
Plans with a set network of dentists usually cost less each month. Plans that let you see any dentist cost more but give you more choice.
Yearly maximum
A higher yearly cap means a higher premium. It can be worth it if you expect major work.
Who is covered
Adding a spouse or children raises the premium. Covering kids may be cheaper through a family plan, and we can compare both ways.
Waiting periods
Plans with no waiting period on major work usually charge more. If you need work soon, that trade can still save you money.
Orthodontic benefits
Coverage for braces adds to the premium. We only suggest it when someone on the plan is likely to use it.

Dental insurance questions we hear

Something not covered here? (727) 761-4591

Can I keep my current dentist?

Often yes, but it depends on the plan. We check your dentist against each network before we show you options. If they are out of network, we explain what you would get back on a visit.

Will a new plan pay for a crown I need next month?

Most plans have a waiting period on major work, sometimes a year or more. A few plans skip it but cost more. We check this first so you know what to expect before you enroll.

Is dental included in my health insurance?

For adults it usually is not. Some health plans include dental for children. We can review your health plan and tell you what is already covered, so you do not pay twice.

Does it cost me anything to talk with you?

It does not. The consultation is free, and you never get a bill from us. The carrier whose plan you end up choosing covers our pay. If we find nothing better than what you have, you still owe nothing.

Can I buy dental coverage any time of year?

Many standalone dental plans can be bought at any time, not just during open enrollment. Dental added to a health plan may follow that plan's enrollment dates. We will tell you which applies to you.
